Canadian Jean Béliveau was recently joined by Consul General Tom MacDonald to cross the Harbour Bridge on his arrival to Sydney after walking 66,700 kilometres through 62 countries.
Jean Béliveau has spent the past decade walking around the world promoting peace and non-violence for the benefit of children the world over. The lone traveller started his journey on August 18, 2000 in Montréal. His small number of personal belongings are contained in a three-wheeled stroller.
Mr. Béliveau arrived in Darwin in October 2009, and from there walked through the harsh Australian outback before making his way to the east coast and down to Sydney.
Before returning to his home town in the Eastern Townships, Jean will walk from Sydney to Melbourne, around New Zealand and cross Canada from the west coast to Montreal where he is expected to arrive in July 2011.
