Fees

New applications: Processing fees must be paid when the application is submitted. The payment (certified cheque or bank draft) must be attached to the application form. Refer to the fee schedule for current rates. Just before paying, check this webpage again for the up-to-date information.

Current applications: If you are paying additional fees for an application currently being processed in Sydney, the payment (certified cheque or bank draft) must be attached to the letter from our office requesting the additional payment.

Economic Class applications:

All applicants in the economic classes must submit their initial application to the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) in Canada. For more information on how to pay, visit the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website.

Attention: The Centralized Intake Office (CIO) is located in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada, and not in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

Family class applications: All applications for sponsored family class members must be submitted to the Case Processing Centre in Canada. For more information on how to pay and where to submit your application, please refer to the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website.

We accept payments in Canadian dollars or in Australian dollars.

Postal Orders and Certified Cheques:

  • If you are paying in Australian Dollars, the postal order or certified cheque should be made payable to the Consulate General of Canada in Sydney. Print your name on the back of the postal order or certified cheque.
  • Confirm with the issuing bank that your payment in Canadian or Australian dollars can be cashed by a Canadian bank,
  • Your payment must accompany your application.
  • Please ensure that the bank does not forward your postal order or certified cheque to this office.
  • If your application is received at this office without the correct processing fee attached, your application will be returned to you without processing.

Other instructions:

  • A receipt will be issued for each payment received. Please keep the receipt as proof of payment.
  • Processing fees are non-refundable regardless of the outcome of the application.
  • Do not send cash. We will not be responsible for cash sent to our office.
  • Please do not use the payment system provided on the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website. This payment method is only available for applications made from within Canada.

Important: Bank drafts and certified cheques have a limited validity. Ensure that your bank draft or certified cheque is not older than 60 days when it reaches our office.

Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF)

Applicants for permanent residence can pay the Right of Permanent Residence Fee ($490) at the time they submit their application or at a later date when requested. The processing fee is still required when submitting an application.

The following applicants are not required to pay the RPRF:

  • dependent children of a principal applicant or sponsor, a child to be adopted, or an orphaned brother, sister, niece, nephew or grandchild;
  • protected persons, including Convention refugees.
