Canadian Embassies Voyage to Bangladesh to Honour the Fallen
Envoys and representatives of 16 Commonwealth countries attend a special prayer at Mainamati War Cemetary in Comilla.
On November 13th 2009, representatives from 16 Canadian Embassies to commonwealth countries, along with representatives from the United States, Japan, Germany, Holland and EU, began the annual pilgrimage of Remembrance to the Commonwealth War Cemetery located in Comilla, Bangladesh.

The Cemetery has 736 buried servicemen all from commonwealth countries. The grounds are divided into a Christian, Hindu, and Muslim sections around the main cenotaph.
Comilla was an active operational airbase and hospital for allied troops fighting in Burma against the Japanese. Canada’s involvement in Asia during the Second World War involved primarily the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). There are 13 members of the RCAF buried there:

- Flying Officer Alexander ORR – Vancouver, British Colombia
- Flying Officer Walter ROBERTS – Orono, Ontario
- Warrant Officer Leslie WARD – Winnipeg, Manitoba
