Mailing Instructions

You may now submit immigration applications, documents and passports to the Canadian Consulate General in Buffalo by sending them to our address in Canada or to our address in Buffalo. (Courier packages must be sent to the Buffalo, NY address.)

**UNLESS YOU SUPPLY A PREPAID EXPRESS MAIL (UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE) OR XPRESSPOST (CANADA POST) ENVELOPE, YOUR PASSPORT(S) WILL BE RETURNED TO YOU VIA REGULAR MAIL. WE DO NOT ACCEPT FedEx, UPS, PUROLATOR OR ANY OTHER COURIER COMPANY ENVELOPES - EVEN IF THEY ARE PREPAID BY CREDIT CARD OR ACCOUNT NUMBER.

We strongly encourage you to use United States Postal Service or Canada Post premium mail service. This allows you to track the delivery and return of your passports and applications.

We will return passports to addresses in the USA or Canada only. If your current mailing address is not in the USA or Canada, please provide us with the complete name, address and telephone number of a relative, unpaid representative or an authorized representative in Canada or the USA to whom we can send your passport.

Our office is not liable for lost or stolen passports. Passports sent to us by mail cannot be picked up in person.

Temporary Resident (Visitor), Student and Temporary Worker Applicants:

Temporary Resident (Visitor), Student and Temporary Worker Applicants

We strongly advise against making any firm travel arrangements until your application has been processed and you have received your passport with the visa.

If your address is in the USA:

We encourage you to use United States Postal Service (USPS) Express Mail or Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation for the submission of your application and passport. You should also provide a prepaid USPS Express Mail or Priority Mail envelope for the return of your passport.

• Purchase two prepaid, 9" x 12" (no smaller) USPS Express Mail or USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation envelopes.
• Use one to send your application package to us; the second is for us to return your passport and supporting documents.
• Complete the mailing label on the return envelope showing your full mailing address in the "Deliver To" field and the address of the Canadian Consulate General in Buffalo in the “Return Address” field (see address below).
• Make a note of the tracking number for each envelope.
• Send your application, passport, supporting documents and the return envelope to:

We encourage you to use Canada Post's Xpresspost-National service for the submission of your application and passport. You should also provide a pre-paid Xpresspost-National envelope for the return of your passport.

• Purchase two  prepaid 24 x 32 cm (no smaller) Xpresspost - National envelopes at any Canada Post retail outlet (do NOT purchase " Xpresspost - USA" envelopes)
• Use one to send your application package to us; the second is for us to return your passport and supporting documents.
• Complete the mailing label on the return envelope showing your full mailing address in the "Deliver To" field and the Fort Erie Post Office box address (below) in the "Return Address" field.
• Make a note of the tracking number for each envelope.
• Send your application, passport, supporting documents and the return envelope to:

Taking advantage of our proximity to the Canadian border, we have made arrangements to have your application package and passport collected in Canada. Your passport and supporting documents will be mailed back to you from Canada.

Permanent Resident Applicants

When sending your passport for the issuance of your permanent residence visa, we strongly encourage you to use United States Postal Service or Canada Post premium mail service. This allows you to track the delivery and return of your passport.

If your address is in the USA:

When sending your passport you should provide a prepaid USPS Express Mail or Priority Mail envelope for its return.

• Purchase two prepaid, 9" x 12" (no smaller) USPS Express Mail or USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation envelopes.
• Use one to send your documents to us; the second is for us to return your passport and Confirmation of Permanent Residence.
• Complete the mailing label on the return envelope showing your full mailing address in the "Deliver To" field and the address of the Canadian Consulate General in Buffalo in the “Return Address” field (see address below)
