Consular Services for Australians

Under the 1986 agreement between Canada and Australia on the sharing of consular services, the Canadian Embassy in Ouagadougou provides the following services to Canadian and Australian citizens:

  • registration of Australian citizens
  • information regarding passports, citizenship, marriage and divorce, births and deaths, health, pensions, taxation, driver's licences, lawyers (list), document notarization and certification, and voting from abroad
  • returning to Canada
  • useful addresses
  • DFAIT's consular publications
  • assistance in the event of arrest or detention
  • financial assistance or return to home country
  • assistance in the event of illness or hospitalization
  • issuing of Australian travel (identification) documents in emergency situations
  • assistance regarding the loss or theft of personal property and effects
  • assistance with funeral arrangements, etc.
