On behalf of the personnel of the Canadian diplomatic mission in Yaounde, I am pleased to welcome you to our website. Our mission, which bears the title High Commission of Canada, in Cameroon, and the Embassy of Canada, in our other countries of accreditation, represents Canadian interests in six countries: Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Sao Tome & Principe.
Of all countries south of the Sahara, besides South Africa, it's with Cameroon that Canada has maintained its longest standing diplomatic relations. These relations have grown in strength over time, enhanced by common traits such as the use of French and English as official languages and membership of the Francophonie and the Commonwealth.
Situated at the heart of the gulf of Guinea, Cameroon is practically the principal gateway to the emerging political and economic union called the Economic and Monetary Community of Central African States (CEMAC), a region whose great potential is attracting global economic and geo-strategic attention.
It is in this light that our mission strives to guarantee Canadian presence in the best possible manner, specifically by working relentlessly to strengthen political, commercial, academic and existing development ties with these countries. Our mission attends to a wide public including Canadians who seek advice on consular services or business opportunities in our countries of accreditation.
I would conclude by stressing that my colleagues and I are at your service. I therefore, encourage you to share with us, through our website, any suggestions that might help us serve you even better.
The High Commissioner / The Ambassador
Jean Pierre Lavoie
