How to Submit an Application
Citizens of Chile require a visa to travel to Canada. This visa requirement applies to everyone who wants to transit, visit, do business, study, or work on a temporary basis.
The Canadian Embassy in Chile has made arrangements to open a Visa Application Centre (VAC) in Santiago. The VAC is aimed at making the Canadian visa process more convenient for applicants in Chile. All temporary resident applicants (visitors, students and temporary workers) are encouraged to use the VAC services.
The VACs provide the following services:
- Receive temporary resident applications (visitors, students, temporary workers)
- Review applications for completeness
- Answer general enquiries
- Supply temporary resident application forms (visitors, students, temporary workers)
- Provide on-site client service to assist applicants in submitting their applications
- Allow applicants who use the VAC service to track their application electronically
- Offer extended office hours for submitting application
- Arrange for the secure and reliable return of the passport and decision to the applicant

Note: The VACs are only responsible for receiving and reviewing applications for completeness. All visa applications are assessed by visa officers at the Canadian Embassy in Chile.
If you are residing or travelling outside Chile, you may apply at the Canadian visa office serving the country or region where you live or which you are visiting.
Applications for temporary resident visas (tourism and transit, study and temporary work permits) and permanent resident travel documents
If you decide not to submit your application through the VAC, you can submit your documents at the visa office of the Embassy of Canada:

Tuesdays and Thursdays ONLY

Service limited to 30 clients
Visa Application Center: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Excluding holiday closures
For all Permanent Resident Travel Document applications:
Applicants must present a Certificado de viaje (information only available in Spanish) for the past 5 years, this document is issued by Policia Internacional at Morande 672, Santiago.
Family Class
All applications to sponsor a family class member must be submitted to the Case Processing Centre in Canada. For more information on how to submit your application and the forms of payment, refer to Sponsoring Your Family.
Economic Class
- Federal skilled workers
- Provincial nominees (Once nominated by a province)
- Quebec skilled workers (Once selected by Quebec)
- Federal investors
All applicants in these classes must submit their initial application to the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) in Canada. For more information on how to submit your application, please refer to the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website.
Due to a temporary moratorium on accepting new applications in the federal entrepreneur program, the visa office will not accept any entrepreneur applications that arrive at the visa office on or after July 1, 2011. These applications will be returned to the applicant.
