Not so long ago, learning took place in a school only a short walk or ride away from home. Today, in an increasingly connected world, students can attend classes anywhere around the globe.

To help Ivoirian students learn about educational opportunities in Canada, the Embassy of Canada to Côte d’Ivoire participated in the 3rd Edition Career Day in Abidjan and hosted a seminar with guidance counsellors. The Career Day provided students a chance to get to know more about Canadian universities and colleges.

Choosing Canada as a study destination

Every year, thousands of students from around the world choose to pursue their education goals in Canada. Students from Côte d’Ivoire are attracted to Canada as a study destination due to the bilingual nature of the country as well as its reputation for high-quality education and teaching methods.

Many Ivoirian students seek advice from local guidance counsellors as a first step in considering studying abroad. To help guidance counsellors better answer questions from students, the Embassy of Canada held a seminar to inform guidance counsellors of opportunities in Canada. The Embassy was happy to present the seminar to over 40 guidance counsellors from across the country. These counsellors are now familiar with Canada’s education system and the opportunities it opens for their students.

Students seeking success

Thousands of Ivoirian students, professionals, and graduates flocked to the Career Day in Abidjan to learn more about future opportunities that await them. With more than 200,000 participants at the Career Day, the Embassy’s information booth about education in Canada was a popular spot for students to gather info on Canadian universities and colleges.

The Career Day was a great chance for students, parents and local institutions alike to learn about the benefits of studying abroad. Canada is committed to supporting enriching study opportunities that build understanding among peoples, develop global citizens and leaders, and contribute to the development of nations.
