How to submit an application

We accept applications submitted by citizens of or persons legally admitted to the Czech Republic.

You may submit applications in any category by mail.

How to submit different types of applications:

Our office details:

Temporary resident (visitor, student, temporary worker) and Permanent Resident Travel document

  • by mail - The visa section will return your passport by registered mail. Please note that the passport can be sent only within the Czech Republic.
  • in person - or an authorized third party. The Visa Section in Prague can return your passport to a third party only if a written authorization allowing the visa section to do so is supplied.

Family class applications: All applications for sponsored family class members must be submitted to the Case Processing Centre (CPC) in Canada. For more information on how to pay and where to submit your application, refer to Sponsoring Your Family.

Economic Class applications: All applicants in the economic classes must submit their initial application to the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) in Canada. For more information on how to submit your application, please refer to the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website.

Immigrant applications are not accepted in Prague. Please visit the website of our Visa Section in Vienna for more information.

Please note that the documents submitted with your application become the property of the Government of Canada and cannot be returned to you in any form. Please ensure that before submitting your application, you keep a copy of all documents you may need later.

Security – Getting into the Embassy

Luggage, such as backpacks, suitcases or packages larger than a standard handbag, are not allowed into the Embassy. The Embassy offers no storage facilities and applicants carrying such items will not be allowed entry.

Applicants are also discouraged from bringing mobile phones or other electronic devices, such as Blackberries, iPods, PDAs and remote-entry automobile keys, to the Embassy.  Holders of such items will be delayed for searches and examination. 

Please note that food and drinks are not permitted within the Embassy.
