An economic powerhouse and community supporter

A Las Vegas icon, Cirque du Soleil currently has seven shows on the Strip: Mystère, “O”, Zumanity, , The Beatles LOVE, Criss Angel BeLIEve, Viva ELVIS (through August 2012), and Zarkana (premiering November 2012), which collectively employ over 1,600 workers, including over 520 artists. The newest show, a collaboration with the Michael Jackson estate, will premiere in 2013. Cirque du Soleilalso takes pride in being a neighbor of choice and articulates its commitment through many long term social and cultural action programs, perhaps most notably its social circus program Cirque du Monde, a global program targeting at-risk youth which celebrated its

15thanniversary in 2010, and its support of initiatives in the local arts community.


Creating jobs in tough times

Barrick Gold of North America is the U.S. subsidiary of Barrick Gold of Canada, the largest gold producer in the world. The state’s largest international investor and exporter, Barrick has operated in Nevada since 1986 with seven mines responsible for 40% of Barrick’s global gold production. Over 1,000 new jobs have been added in Nevada since 2007, bringing in-state employment to over 4,450 and more than 500 Nevada vendors provided $957 million worth of services and equipment in 2011. Barrick is the only Canadian mining company ranked in the top 100 of the NASDAQ Global Sustainability Index and operates one of the largest corporate giving programs in Nevada, donating $3 million annually.


Powering northern Nevada

Tuscarora Gas Transmission Company, owned by TransCanada, is the primary source of natural gas for northern Nevada. Tuscarora is a 229-mile interstate natural gas pipeline system that services utilities, electric generators, municipalities, casinos, and industrial facilities primarily serving Reno and northern Nevada.
