Visas and Immigration

The Visa Section of the Embassy of Canada to Guatemala is responsible for processing visa applications for citizens and residents of El Salvador.

Citizens of El Salvador require a visa to enter Canada as a visitor. If you are a citizen of another country, check the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website to see if you require a visa to enter Canada.

If you wish to enquire about the status of your application, you should contact the Visa Section of the Embassy of Canada to Guatemala where all applications are processed and finalized.

Applications for Permanent Residence (immigration) are not processed by the visa office in Guatemala. Please contact the Embassy of Canada to Mexico.

Effective September 1, 2012, the visa office in Mexico City is responsible for processing permanent resident applications from nationals previously served by the visa office in Guatemala City. Applications currently at the office in Guatemala City will continue to be processed at that office. Applicants will be informed if their application is transferred to Mexico City.

Visa Application Centre

The Embassy of Canada has authorized a Visa Application Centre (VAC) to provide assistance with applications for Temporary Resident (visitor) Visa, and Study or Work Permit applications, and applications from Permanent Residents applying for Travel Documents to return to Canada. The VAC provides on-site client service, offers extended business hours and minimizes delays. For more information please refer to the VAC website.
