Ahead of this year's annual meeting of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT), Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, said "Our Government will continue to support bluefin tuna management decisions based on science and the precautionary approach, as well as work with our international partners to press ICCAT for tough actions to end overfishing of bluefin in the Eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean." .. details

Minister of Foreign Affairs Lawrence Cannon today met in Ottawa with Sweden's Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt, currently President of the Council of the European Union. Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to work for a successful UN conference on climate change in Copenhagen at the end of this year. "I look forward to the first full round of negotiations for a comprehensive economic and trade agreement with the EU, which will take place later this month," said Minister Cannon. .. details
