Make your working holiday dream a reality! International Experience Canada gives you the information you need to Travel and Work in Canada for up to one year.

14,000 places available in 2014!

IMPORTANT TECHNICAL NOTES FOR THE WHP OPENING:

Please read the notes below carefully to improve the experience for yourself and other applicants:

  • If you are using an Internet Explorer version 8.0, the passport expiry date or date of birth might not be displayed properly in your application. To resolve this issue, please either use a different browser, or update your Internet Explorer browser to a more current version.
  • If you haven’t already done so, please create a Kompass account and fill in as much of your information as possible before the day that the WHP category opens.
  • Log into your account BEFORE the launch time.
  • Don’t refresh Kompass pages frequently prior to the launch time, but you will have to refresh it at least once after 16:00 (Paris time).
  • When the WHP category becomes available at the launch time, complete and submit your application and then log-off and leave the site. You will be able to upload your documents and make payments in the following 10 days.
  • If you get a “server is busy” message when trying to submit your application, stay calm and keep trying.
  • If you encounter a serious technical issue, please use the “Contact Us” form to report the problem. IEC will actively monitor these messages.

Note: Please use the “My Messages” in your account only for issues that relate directly to your application – NOT for technical issues. We will not be able to respond as quickly to messages from your “My Messages” account during the launch.

Kompass Update

Please Note:
You must enter your Family and Given Name(s), passport number and date of birth into your application, as shown in your passport. Any applications submitted on December 18th, 2013 or at a later date, will be refused if the names, passport number or date of birth do not match the information written in your passport. The date of birth must be entered in the format requested in the IEC form no matter what the format is in your passport.

Reminder:

IEC processes applications on a first-come, first-served basis. If you withdraw your application, you will lose your place in line.

  • If you resubmit your application, you will be at the end of the line.
  • If the quota is closed or there are no spaces available, you will not be able to re-submit.
  • If you have already paid, IEC will reimburse your fee.

New for IEC 2014:

The application process to participate in the International Experience Canada (IEC) initiative will be conducted in two stages:

  • IEC Assessment: to determine whether you meet the IEC eligibility criteria. Stage 1 will be conducted completely online through an IEC Kompass account. All supporting documents will have to be submitted electronically through your IEC Kompass account. Applications by post will not be accepted.

  • Work Permit Application. If your application is accepted at stage 1, an IEC conditional acceptance letter will be sent to you via Kompass. In order to begin step 2, you will then be directed to submit an application for a work permit to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) using a MyCIC account. The Conditional Acceptance Letter will be valid for three (3) months only. If the CIC assessment is positive, CIC will send you a Letter of Introduction to your MyCIC account.

If you have obtained information from a secondary source concerning the IEC initiative, please note that only the information posted on our website should be relied on.

You’ve always dreamed of spending a year living and working in Canada. Maybe you want to gain valuable international work experience in a bilingual country...travel across Canada while working at stops along the way...or simply intern abroad for your next co-op placement.

Did you know that the Government of Canada has youth mobility agreement with the Government of France to make it easier to do just that?

Through International Experience Canada, you can apply for a temporary work permit to travel and work in Canada for up to one year.
