Medical services

Canadians who are residents of Germany will need proof of health insurance when seeing a doctor. Without proof of health insurance, medical treatment might have to be paid directly.

Canadians who are visiting Germany and require medical treatment will usually have to pay for their treatment directly at the doctor's office or hospital. Travel insurance is highly recommended.

The Consular Section in Berlin and our consulates in Germany can provide names of English- and French-speaking medical doctors in Germany upon request.

In case of a medical emergency please visit the nearest hospital or dial 112 for an ambulance.
