Information on German licences

How to Obtain a German Driver's Licence

All Canadian provinces and territories have signed an exchange arrangement with Germany that includes licences issued for regular passenger vehicles. (Licences for trucks or motorcycles are not included).

You may exchange your Canadian licence for a German one at your local German licencing office (Strassenverkehrsamt). Details regarding the exchange will be available from that office.

Canadian Driver's licences

Canadian licences cannot be renewed abroad. For matters regarding a Canadian driver's licence please contact the office that issued your current licence.
