Cultural Relations: Film

Canadian Films at German Festivals

There are many international festivals in Germany, ranging from general festivals such as the Berlinale to festivals specializing in particular genres. Telefilm Canada organizes screenings for international festival directors on the search for films for their respective festivals. Therefore, it is advisable to contact Telefilm Canada directly and possibly submit your film to them. The best way to increase your presence on the international festival circuit, however, is to send in your film in response to the calls for entries of the respective festivals. Most German festivals do not require an application fee.

Funding and Support

Once you have received an invitation from a German festival or film institute to present your film, please get in touch with Canada Council for the Arts regarding travel support.

You can also contact Katharina Fichtner, the Embassy’s Cultural Attaché for Film, to discuss promoting a possible cooperation.
