Step-by-Step Application Guide

The application process to participate in the International Experience Canada (IEC) initiative involves two stages:

  1. IEC Assessment: to determine whether you meet the IEC eligibility criteria, using a secure IEC Kompass account, and;
  2. An assessment of your admissibility to Canada and eligibility for a work permit. This stage is submitted using the Come to Canada wizard and a secure MyCIC account.

IEC assessment: using Kompass

Once you have read the description and the eligibility criteria for the IEC categories, follow the three-step process, as described below, to complete the first stage of the assessment.

Step 1 – Register to create your IEC Kompass account

Register to create your IEC Kompass account. Once you have registered and created your unique username and password, you will be assigned an account number. You will receive an email with that number and instructions on how to validate your account. Use this account to manage your IEC application process.

Step 2 – Obtain required documents

Review the complete list of Required Documents. You will need to submit scanned or electronic copies of all required documents with your application. You may be requested to submit additional documents upon request at a later date.

Step 3 – Complete and submit your application

Log in to your IEC Kompass application account using your username and password.

Your “My IEC Application” page will allow you to manage your IEC application process.

The IEC application through Kompass is made up of several sections. You can work on your application without immediately submitting it. You can only submit the application when you have completed all the required fields and have attached all the required documents. After you have submitted your application, you cannot modify it.

Once you have submitted the application, IEC will assign you a World Tracking Number (WTN). Only applicants with a WTN will be considered.

Immigration Assessment: using MyCIC

Once you have received the IEC conditional acceptance letter through Kompass, you will be directed to create a MyCIC account to begin the immigration assessment of your application process.

International Experience Canada is unable to respond to questions about immigration, visas or assessments using MyCIC. To communicate with the immigration service, refer all questions to Question@cic.gc.ca , or visit their website at www.cic.gc.ca.

Applicants who submit application packages that contain misrepresented information, knowingly or unknowingly, will be denied entry to Canada and may also be banned from travelling to Canada.
