Important message: the Visa and Immigration Section at the Embassy of Canada to Germany (Berlin) is closed and services transferred to the Embassy of Canada in Austria (Vienna).
The Visa Section of the Embassy of Canada to Austria is responsible for processing visa applications for citizens and residents of Germany.
Exception: Applications to the International Experience Canada (IEC) program (including the Working Holiday Program), will continue to be sent to the attention of the Embassy of Canada in Berlin, IEC section.
German citizens do not require a visa to enter Canada as a visitor. If you are a citizen of another country, check the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website to see if you require a visa to enter Canada.
A NEW visa application centre (VAC) opened in Düsseldorf on May 3, 2013, and is located at Graf-Adolf-Strasse 43. Applicants in Germany are encouraged to apply through the VAC as applications submitted directly to the Visa Section of the Embassy of Canada to Austria may take longer to process.
This excludes applicants for the International Experience Canada Program, please see below for more details.
Please note, you may need to give your biometrics (fingerprints and a photograph) as part of your application. The VAC in Düsseldorf now offers biometric collection services. For more information and to find out if the biometric requirement applies to you, please visit the CIC website.
Apply online for a study permit. If you are a citizen of, and resident in Germany, you may be able to apply for your study permit online. Certain conditions apply. Please visit the CIC website to determine whether you are eligible.
Eligible study permit applicants are strongly encouraged to submit an online application, as this will result in the most expeditious processing, and does not require submission of an application and fees directly to the Embassy of Canada in Vienna.
If you are citizen of Germany, or if you are legally residing in Germany, visit the official website of the Embassy of Canada to Austria for information about visa and immigration services, to download application forms or submit an enquiry. The only exception is the International Experience Canada (IEC) program; please see details below regarding applying to it at the Embassy of Canada to Germany in Berlin.
