Development Cooperation

The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) is Canada's lead agency for development assistance. CIDA's aim is to:

  • manage Canada's support and resources effectively and accountably to achieve meaningful, sustainable results and;
  • engage in policy development in Canada and internationally, enabling Canada's effort to realize its development objectives.

In 2009, as part of Canada's new aid effectiveness agenda, Ghana was selected by CIDA as one of 20 countries of focus.

For more information, please consult CIDA’s web page for Ghana.

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) is also active in Ghana (PDF* 499 KB). IDRC is a Canadian Crown corporation that works in close collaboration with researchers from the developing world in their search for the means to build healthier, more equitable, and more prosperous societies.
