Screening of No Place On Earth by Janet Tobias at 20:00 at the French Institute in Greece
While mapping out the largest cave system in Ukraine, explorer and investigator Chris Nicola discovers evidence that five Jewish families spent nearly a year and a half in the pitch-black caves to escape the Nazis. This is the story of the longest uninterrupted underground survival in recorded human history. Historians Anna Maria Droumbouki and Jason Handrinos will moderate a discussion with the audience after the screening. The event, held on the occasion of International Holocaust Remembrance Day and in the framework of Canada’s Chairmanship to the International Holocaust Alliance, is organized in partnership with the Embassy of Israel and CineDoc and with the support of the Goethe Institute in Athens. In English with Greek subtitles.
Repeat showing on February 2 at Danaos.
