Screening of acclaimed feature film “Child Prodigy” as a tribute to Canada’s music genius André Mathieu, hailed as the “Canadian Mozart”. Montreal-based pianist and composer Alain Lefèvre, who will appear in concert in Athens on October 21, is the film’s music director and performer of Mathieu’s music. Lefèvre will play works by Mathieu at his Carnegie Hall debut on December 10, 2013, in a concert celebrating the 70th anniversary of Mathieu’s last performance in the legendary hall. Internationally acclaimed Canadian pianist and composer, Alain Lefèvre, will headline a "Concert of Solidarity" at the prestigious Megaron Mousikis (Athens Concert Hall), performing Shostakovich’s dazzling Concerto for Piano, Trumpet, and String Orchestra with the renowned Armonia Atenea (Camerata - Friends of Music Orchestra). Lefèvre’s recording of the concerto with London Mozart Players earned him a JUNO Award in 2010. Lefèvre will also showcase his Greek-inspired compositions, "Hellenic Impressions" and André Mathieu's “Concerto de Québec" for solo piano. M. The Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, C.P., C.C., C.M.M., C.O.M., C.D., former Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, will be speaking on "Cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue and social change" in the context of the Megaron Plus lecture series. The Rt Honourable Michaëlle Jean is currently UNESCO Special Envoy for Haiti, founder and Co-President of the Michaëlle Jean Foundation (www.fmjf.ca ) and Chancellor of the University of Ottawa. She has served as "le grand Témoin de la Francophonie" at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London and continues to be a champion and engaged supporter of l'Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (l'OIF). November 5th 2013 - Vorres Museum: Opening of the art exhibition “The Lure of the Local: Women Artists in Canadian Land(scape)”, which brings together for the first time in Greece the work of women artists from Canada’s northern regions in an innovative exhibition which seeks to present diverse approaches to the sense of “land”, capturing, re-creating and sharing fragments of Canada, illustrating the poetics of a territory in constant change.
