Canada and Guatemala brought together by gastronomy

French is a chance!
This year the Canadian Embassy in Guatemala, together with other Francophone missions including Switzerland, France, Egypt, Belgium, Monaco and Côte D’Ivoire organized a week to celebrate “La Francophonie” with a series of events: films, concerts, a choir of students from the Lycée Jules Verne, promotion of French literature, and gastronomy. All to underline not only the French language but also the French culture and gastronomy. The Canadian film « Congoroma » by Philippe Falardeau opened the Francophonie Festival at Fontabella.
Furthermore, different Guatemalan culinary schools were invited to cook special dishes that presented a variety of flavours to reflect the diversity of the culture of the different Francophone countries. Canada was represented by a « Ragoût de pattes de porc » that was highly praised by the Guatemalan audience.
