Institut Français de Budapest (1011 Budapest, Fő u. 17)
The word slam in American slang means “to hit or strike”, “the forceful impact”, a term borrowed from the expression “to slam a door”. In the context of publically performed oral poetry, slam means to grab the listener “by the collar” and “hit them” with words and images to shake them and to move them. Queen Ka, a slam artist from Montreal, follows a tradition well-rooted in Canada and offers a taste of this free poetry genre.
