The staff of the High Commission of Canada consists of two categories: Canada-Based Staff and Locally-Engaged Staff.
Canada-Based Staff are recruited by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in Ottawa and through several other government departments in Canada. They are employees who have a diplomatic status when posted abroad.
Locally-engaged staff are recruited by the Mission. All vacant positions are staffed by competitive process. The job opportunities are only open to people already residing in India, or with valid working papers. From time to time employment opportunities arise in programs such as Immigration, Consular Affairs, Trade, Political, Advocacy and Administration.
