Living/Travelling in Indonesia and Timor-Leste

Preparation is the key to successful travel. By doing your homework before you leave, you minimize the chances of something going wrong. Below you will find a broad range of information to help you prepare for a safe and enjoyable journey.

The Consular Section of the Embassy of Canada in Jakarta provides a range of services to Canadian citizens travelling to, or residing in Indonesia and Timor-Leste.

Under a consular services sharing agreement, the Australian Consulate General in Denpasar, Bali provides consular services to Canadians living and travelling in Bali, and the Australian Embassy in Dili, Timor-Leste provides consular services to Canadians living and travelling in Timor-Leste.

Information on Passports can be found at www.pptc.gc.ca, and for citizenship documents at www.cic.gc.ca.  Please note, however, that there may be additional requirements than are listed on the website, specific to Indonesia.  It is therefore recommended that you contact the Consular Section in advance to confirm you have the necessary documents for the services you require. You can also find detailed information on the Travel site about Legal and Notarial services that the Consular Section can and cannot provide.
