On Saturday, October 7, the Canadian National Men's Football Team presented footballs and practice cones to the Seaview Gardens Football Team. The team which was in Jamaica recently to play an international friendly match against the Reggae Boyz, took time out of their training session to make the presentation at the Hilton Kingston Hotel.
Canada's High Commissioner to Jamaica, His Excellency Denis Kingsley in his remarks said that "the involvement of youths in worthwhile activities such as sports can not be over-emphasized." He said that sports inculcated good values, build self esteem, foster team spirit and team building and engender discipline."
The Seaview Gardens Football Team is comprised of youths of the community at the senior level, playing in the national major leagues, as well as under 17, 15 and 14 teams. The Club receives support from the St. Patrick's Foundation, a non-government, non-profit organization which operates in inner city Jamaica.
Mr. Fabian Brown, Development Director of the St. Patrick's Foundation expressed gratitude to the Canadian National Men's Football Team for their timely donation.
