Consular Service Fee Schedule

  • Effective 8 May 2013
  • Exchange rate: $1.00 CAD = ¥95.0
  • Payment forms accepted:
    Credit Card, Cash or Japanese Postal Money Order ("kawase shousho" or 為替証書). For mail-in credit card payment, please complete the Credit Card Authorization Form. Credit card payment by post cannot be accepted without this form.
  • Please remit fee payments with exact change.


A. Passports

Elimination of 48-page passport

In preparation for the global deployment of the Canadian ePassport and in accordance with Canada's Passport and Other Travel Document Services Fees Regulations, Passport Canada will no longer issue different sizes of passport books.

  • As of May 27, 2013 we will no longer offer the 48 page passport service abroad.
  • A complete application received on or before May 26 at a mission abroad may be eligible for a 48-page passport.
  • As of July 1, 2013, all new passports will be 36 pages.

Passport Services
 If you are eligible for the simplified renewal process, or if you are not but have a guarantor.If you are not eligible for simplified renewal but do not have a guarantor and require Form PPT 132 (Statutory Declaration in Lieu of Guarantor)

Note: Indicated amounts are inclusive of following processing fees in addition to Passport fees.
1 Includes the consular service fee = JPY 2,400 or $25
2 Form PPT 132 (Statutory Declaration in Lieu of Guarantor) fee = JPY 4,800 or $50

24 page passport (16 years of age or above)¥ 9,500 1 or $100 1¥ 14,300, both 1 and 2 or

24 page passport (3-15 years of age)¥ 3,400 or $35¥ 8,200 2 or $85 2

B. Citizenship Fees for New / Replacement Canadian Citizenship Card for Adult or Minor:

JPY 7,200 or $75
Standard Processing Time: 6–12 months


C. Notary Service Fees:

Services rendered by appointment only. Please contact the Consular section for further details.

Administering an oath; receiving an affidavit, declaration or affirmation; attesting any document bearing a signature; or issuing a marriage confirmation letter for a Japanese spousal visa application; etc:
JPY 4,800 or $50 per document

Signature attestations:
JPY 2,900 or $30 per document

Certified true copies of official documents:
JPY 1,900 or $20 per document
