Canadian Book Reading for Children

"Scaredy Squirrel at the beach"

Celebrate Canada (June 21 – July 1)

"Celebrate Canada" is an eleven-day celebration running from June 21 to July 1. Several important days are celebrated during this period, culminating in our nation's birthday, Canada Day, on July 1.

At this month's Book Reading, we will learn how Canadians celebrate this special period and mark the beginning of summer with "Scaredy Squirrel at the beach", a story about a squirrel who never goes to the beach as he doesn't like crowded places. Instead, he builds his own safe beach under his nut tree. Still, the lure of the genuine beach is strong – even a dedicated homebody such as Scaredy can't resist it forever. Can his back–up plans save him from its perils?
