Consul General of Canada in Monterrey, México

Behzad Babakhani

Message from the Consul General

I am honoured to be Canada's Consul General in 4 priority states in Northern Mexico.

Canada’s Consulate General in Monterrey, established in 1993, is responsible for the states of Nuevo Leon, Coahuila, Chihuahua and Tamaulipas, all bordering the U.S. southern border. Together, these states account for nearly 20% of Mexico’s GDP, and are a growing and important region for Canada in multiple areas.

The main priority of the Consulate General is advancing Canada and Mexico’s economic interests in such areas as manufacturing, agricultural products, clean technologies and extractives. Promoting Canada-Mexico ties in such other areas as education and culture also remains a priority. We further take pride in providing consular services to Canadians who live or travel in our region.

Canada and Mexico are close partners and neighbours in North America. Building on more than 70 years of diplomatic relations, Canada’s Consulate General in Monterrey counts on your support to further strengthen and deepen this dynamic relationship. I look forward to working together.
