The Consulate’s mission is to assist Canadians via its commercial and consular programs. Our trade team provides support for Canadian commercial activities in the Mexican Northeast, more specifically in the states of Nuevo León, Coahuila, Tamaulipas and Chihuahua.

The Northeast region is an important industrial stronghold and, all together, the 4 states account for around 20% of Mexico’s GDP. The region’s vibrant business community, well known as Mexico’s industrial engine, is home of the larger Mexican conglomerates and represents an entry port to a wealth of opportunities. In recent years, the region’s economy has evolved in a new direction and commercial partnerships are now expanding in the area of innovation, science and technology.

Canadian companies have found here a friendly and business-like environment that has led them to establish solid joint ventures. These trade ties have led to the foundation of a local Canadian chamber of commerce, which has been active for more than 12 years and continues to expand its reach throughout northeastern Mexico.

The Consulate’s commercial goal is to build on the successes of the past and attract new Canadian business partners in this mature market. Canadian residents in and visitors to the State of Nuevo León can also count on the high-quality and courteous services offered by our consular team.
