Applying for a Temporary Resident Visa

The Canadian Embassy in Mexico has made arrangements with Computer Sciences Canada (CSC) to open a Visa Application Centre (VAC) in Mexico City. This VAC is aimed at making the Canadian visa process more convenient for applicants in Mexico.

All temporary resident applicants (visitors, students and temporary workers) are encouraged to use the VAC services.

The following documents are required when you apply for a temporary resident visa - failing to present all documents required may result in a visa refusal. Processing fees are not refundable under any circumstances. All documents are required even if you request a transit visa.

Please present the documents in the order indicated.

  1. Application kit for Temporary Resident Visa (PDF). Please read this application kit thoroughly.
  2. Visa application form (PDF 216 KB), fully completed in black ink. Our office only accepts the official application form (IMM 5257).
  3. Additional Information form (PDF), fully completed in black ink.
  4. Family Composition form (PDF)
  5. The original and a photocopy of a valid passport for the applicant and each accompanying family member.
  6. Two recent photos of every applicant (see specifications).
  7. Processing fee. A transit visa does not require a fee.
  8. Pre-paid air-waybill to return your passport and documents. Please make sure of paying to the courier company the portion of collection.
  9. If you apply for a multiple entry visa, please submit a letter explaining your reasons for requesting this type of visa.Please note that we will not issue a multiple entry visa beyond the validity of your passport.

NOTE: Visa officers may request additional documents as they consider necessary, including results of medical examinations.

If you are a non-Mexican in Mexico on a visitor's visa, our office will check your application with the Canadian Embassy responsible for applications from your country of origin or permanent residence. This procedure may take several weeks.
