Citizens of Mexico now require a visa to travel to Canada. This visa requirement applies to everyone who wants to visit, do business, study, or work on a temporary basis.

The Canadian Embassy in Mexico has made arrangements with Computer Sciences Canada (CSC) to open a Visa Application Centre (VAC) in Mexico City. This VAC is aimed at making the Canadian visa process more convenient for applicants in Mexico.

Beginning October 28th, 2009, all temporary resident applicants (visitors, students and temporary workers) are encouraged to use the VAC services.

The VAC will provide the following services:

• Receive temporary resident applications (visitors, students, temporary workers)
• Review applications for completeness
• Answer general enquiries
• Supply temporary resident application forms (visitors, students, temporary workers)
• Provide support for the Visa fee payment
• Allow applicants who use the VAC service to track their application electronically
• Offer extended office hours for submitting applications
• Provide on-site client service to assist applicants in submitting their applications

Note: The VAC is only responsible for receiving and reviewing applications for completeness. All visa applications will continue to be assessed by visa officers at the Canadian Embassy in Mexico.

You can also apply for a Temporary Resident (visitor) Visa at the Canadian Embassy in Mexico City. However, our consulates outside Mexico City will not provide this service. If you are residing or travelling outside Mexico, you may apply at the Canadian visa office serving the country or region where you live or which you are visiting.

** If you have a letter from the Canadian Embassy confirming the issuance of a work permit or a study permit and you have not yet travelled to Canada, you will need a Temporary Resident Visa in your passport in order to enter Canada. Send your passport with the original letter and a prepaid airway bill, to:
