Welcome to the Consulate General of Canada in Minneapolis. We promote trade and investment links, engage with citizens and decision-makers on many matters of common interest, and assist Canadians living and traveling in the Upper Midwest.
We cover the five-state region of Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. We are part of a network of more than 260 Canadian offices around the world, including over 20 in the United States.
2010 is a particularly exciting year. All eyes will be on Canada as Vancouver hosts the Winter Olympics; several athletes from the Upper Midwest are competing. As well, our office celebrates its 40th anniversary, presenting opportunities to highlight the many other strong links between this region and Canada.

Keep Canada in your plans for fall, whether you’re doing a report, planning a lesson, or looking at colleges. Contact the Consulate if we can help you go back to school, Canada style!

It was all things Canada on July 1st, as Consul General Loken spent Canada Day trying out the new, Canadian-made, Nice Ride bikes with Mayor Rybak and other Minneapolis City Council members. The bike ride began at Government Plaza in downtown Minneapolis and ended at Stone Arch Bridge, overlooking a new hydroelectric facility on the lower St. Anthony Falls which is being constructed by Canadian company, Brookfield Renewable Power. At the Brookfield site, Mayor Rybak, Consul General Loken and Brookfield Director of Government Relations, Shannon Ames, spoke on the important Canada-Minneapolis partnership that includes cross-border trade of clean energy and technology. Mayor Rybak also took the opportunity to congratulate Consul General Loken on the 40th anniversary of the Consulate General of Canada in Minneapolis.
