Welcome to the Consulate General of Canada in Minneapolis. We promote trade and investment links, engage with citizens and decision-makers on many matters of common interest, and assist Canadians living and traveling in the Upper Midwest.
We cover the five-state region of Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. We are part of a network of more than 260 Canadian offices around the world, including over 20 in the United States.
2010 is a particularly exciting year. All eyes will be on Canada as Vancouver hosts the Winter Olympics; several athletes from the Upper Midwest are competing. As well, our office celebrates its 40th anniversary, presenting opportunities to highlight the many other strong links between this region and Canada.
On Monday, March 15, Consul General Martin Loken was recognized by the Nebraska Unicameral Legislature as they passed a resolution declaring it “Canada Day” at the Nebraska State Capitol. Governor David Heineman, Speaker Mike Flood and Secretary of State John Gale presented Mr. Loken with a Governor’s Declaration and copies of the resolution at a reception later that day. Canada is Nebraska’s number one trading partner, a relationship which amounted to $2.6 billion worth of goods exchanged in 2008.
