Step-by-Step Application Guide

Once you have read the “Eligibility Criteria” sections on this website, your next step is to decide which of the three International Experience Canada categories to apply for. You can then go ahead and complete the required forms, attach the required supporting documents, transfer payment of the program participation fee, confirm the application package is complete and the information correct, and mail your application package.

Required Documents

  1. Set 1 – to be reviewed by the IEC section
  2. Set 2 – to be reviewed by the Visa and Immigration section

The application package that you send to t he Embassy of Canada to Germany consists of two sets of documents that have to be submitted together . The first set of documents will be reviewed by the International Experience Canada (IEC) section to assess your eligibility to participate in IEC. The second set of documents will be reviewed by the Visa and Immigration section, to assess your admissibility for a work permit.

1st set of documents (IEC criteria):

  1. IEC Application and Declarations form | PDF (117 KB) * ;
  2. Proof that you have paid the IEC program participation fee;

    2nd set of documents (admissibility to Canada):

  3. Work permit application form (IMM1295) | PDF (222 KB), How to Apply Guide,* , validated , signed and dated;
  4. Two passport-sized photos;
  5. An original Dutch certificate of good conduct (VOG).
  6. A legible photocopy of the identification page of your passport . Your passport must be valid for at least one day beyond the date of your scheduled departure from Canada.
  7. Young Professionals category only: a copy of your signed letter of offer of employment from a Canadian employer. This letter must include the following details: the Canadian employer's name, address and other relevant contact information; the job title of the position being offered; and a description of the job duties and terms of employment, including rate of pay, normal hours of work, and start and end date of the employment contract.

    OR: proof of registration in a post-secondary educational institution in the Netherlands and a copy of your signed letter of offer or contract for a work placement or internship position in Canada. This letter must include the following details: the Canadian employer's name, address and other relevant contact information; the job title of the position being offered; and a description of the job duties and terms of employment, including rate of pay (or unpaid if applicable), normal hours of work, and start and end date of the employment contract.
  8. Young Professionals category only: a complete and up-to-date résumé.

Note: Please arrange your documents in the order indicated above.

We keep all the documents you send us, so please keep copies for your files.

The Embassy of Canada to Germany reserves the right to request additional supporting documents and/or proceed with additional verifications (for example, request original documents, contact your employer).

Incomplete, unsigned and non-compliant application packages will not be processed.

WARNING: Inadmissibility for Misrepresentation
All applicants are legally required to be truthful and disclose all relevant information with their applications. Applicants who submit application packages that contain misrepresented information, knowingly or unknowingly, will be denied entry to Canada and may also be banned from travelling to Canada. The details of the misrepresentation will remain permanently on record with Citizenship and Immigration Canada and the Canada Border Services Agency. Submitting Your Application Package

You must send your application package by mail to the Embassy of Canada indicating your category as follows:
