Covanta: leading the way with clean energy in Canada
Covanta Energy Corporation is the world’s leading operator of large-scale Energy from Waste (EfW) plants. Covanta converts more than 20 million tons of garbage each year into more than nine million megawatt hours of electricity in 45 EfW facilities in 18 U.S. states as well as the province of British Columbia.
Two of Covanta’s three North American projects under construction are in Canada. Covanta will design, construct and operate a municipally-owned 20 MW and 140,000 ton-per-year EfW facility in Ontario’s Durham Region. In British Columbia, Covanta will redevelop a pulp and paper mill into a EfW facility to convert up to 750,000 tons per year of municipal solid waste. When completed, the Vancouver 100 MW facility will be Covanta’s largest EfW facility in the world. All core engineering design and planning will be done by project engineers in Morristown. Covanta’s resounding success in Canada means more jobs in New Jersey.
Mistras delivers safety and reliability to Canada’s oil industry
Mistras is a leading “one source” global provider of technology-enabled asset protection solutions used to evaluate the structural integrity of critical energy, industrial and public infrastructure through non-destructive testing.
With ten locations in Canada, Mistras works with some of Canada’s largest energy producers, such as Suncor. Through patented technology that was developed within their Princeton headquarters, Mistras has become one of the world leaders in non-destructive testing of pipeline infrastructures. Mistras continues to play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and reliability of Canada’s energy pipeline system.
Hutchinson saving the lives of members of our armed forces
Hutchinson Industries is the largest private sector employer in Trenton, NJ. Hutchinson supplies wheel inserts that are installed on Stryker Land Armored Vehicles manufactured in London, Ontario by General Dynamics Canada. These inserts allow soldiers to continue driving their vehicles even with flat tires and have saved the lives of American and Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan. Their relationship as a valued supplier to a Canadian manufacturer means that Canada is Hutchinson’s second largest market. Hutchinson, in turn, uses Canadian suppliers in the manufacturing of their products.
