Funeral Shipments

Canadians requiring the services of a funeral home in the tri-state area (Connecticut, New Jersey or southern New York) can obtain information from the Funeral Directors= Associations of Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York

However, when shipping remains back to Canada, it is recommended that individuals contact their funeral home in Canada first. That funeral home may have a representative office in this territory they can contact and with which they make arrangements.

Funeral shipments are arranged between funeral homes in Bermuda/the U.S. and funeral homes in Canada. When sending human remains to Canada, a copy of the Death Certificate and a Certificate of Non-Contagious Disease is required. For a shipment of ashes, only a Death Certificate is required. If cremated remains are to be carried by air within or out of the U.S., the ashes must be in a container that can be screened by airport metal detectors. For further information, please consult the U.S. Transport Security Administration which provides advice on Travelling with Crematory Remains.
