If a Canadian is believed to have gone missing and is possibly in danger within the tri-state area (southern New York, New Jersey or Connecticut) or Bermuda, a missing person's report should be filed with the Canadian police where the missing person is from.
For example, if a person living in Winnipeg is believed to have travelled to and gone missing in New York City, a report for a missing person would be filed with Canadian police in Winnipeg. Canadian local police will need to file a report with Interpol and have it entered onto the NCIC (U.S. National Crime Information Centre) via Interpol so as to alert local American police to the missing person.
After a report has been filed with Canadian police, call or email the Consular Services Section of the Consulate General of Canada (New York) to apprise us of the situation.
