    Please note that our office is not open to the public on Wednesday and Friday afternoons.

Please ensure you complete the application form prior to coming to the Consulate. If you do not have a completed application, processing fee, or supporting documents, you will not be admitted to the waiting room. Application forms can be printed from this website.

Access to waiting room

The daily number of applicants cannot be predicted and therefore, dependent children under 18 years of age, who are included on the application for Temporary Resident Visa, are not required for interview. Regrettably, they will not normally be admitted to the visa office waiting room. Kindly do not bring your children to the Consulate.


Immigrants

Approved Applicants for Permanent Residence

Submissions of passports are only accepted by mail.  Passports are returned by mail within 30 business days.  This does not include mailing time.

Additional Important Information:

  • Check that your passport and each accompanying dependents' passport are valid at least one year from the date of your immigration medical examination.
  • Make sure there is at least one completely blank page, other than the last page in each passport. If dependent children are included in their parent's passport, an additional blank page should be available for each included dependent.

Status Inquiry:

Due to Canadian Privacy legislation, individual cases cannot be discussed over the telephone and must be dealt with by letter, by email or by fax.

  • Any requests regarding the status of an application, MUST be submitted in writing, either by mail, fax or email.  Please make sure you include your full name, date of birth and file reference number.  We will not respond to a status inquiry submitted within normal processing time.
  • This office does not acknowledge receipt of documents and passports.

You may view your immigration application status using the internet, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from anywhere in the world. This service is available only if you are:

  • sponsoring a family class relative
  • applying a permanent residence as a member of the family class
  • applying for permanent residence from within Canada as the spouse of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • applying for permanent residence as a skilled worker

NORMAL PROCESSING TIMES (From date of receipt at a Visa office. This period does not include mailing time):

Temporary Resident Visa:

  • Visitor visa: 10 working days
  • Study Permit: 10 working days
  • Work Permit: 10 working days
  • Temporary Resident Permit: 6 months
  • Rehabilitation application: 6 to 24 months (for serious criminality)
  • Authorization to Return to Canada: 6 months
  • Travel Document: 1 month

Please note these processing times apply only to routine cases with no medical exams, interviews, additional documentation or background checks required.

Permanent Residence:

Family class:

  • Spouse, common-law partner, children:  6 months
  • Parents and grand-parents:  10 months

Skilled worker

  • Skilled Worker (Federal): 15 months
  • Skilled Worker (Quebec and Provincial Nominee): 8 months
