Important change for IEC 2013

The application process to participate in the International Experience Canada (IEC) initiative involves two stages:

  1. IEC Assessment: to determine whether you meet the IEC eligibility criteria, following the steps below, and;
  2. Immigration Assessment: to determine your admissibility to Canada for a work permit, using “MyCIC”.

Step One: List of required documents for the IEC assessment:

  1. IEC Application and Declarations form  PDF, 1,5 MB, * .
    You can either fill out this form online and then print it out and sign it - or - print out this form and fill it in by hand. IMPORTANT: Check all the boxes on page 6. If you do not acknowledge these conditions your application will be returned to you unprocessed. NOTE: Sign the form in the same way as shown in your passport. Please check your passport is signed.
  2. A legible photocopy of the identification pages of your passport (family name, given name(s), date and place of birth, passport’s issue and expiry dates, and your signature). Your passport must be valid for at least one day beyond the date of your departure from Canada and there must be one completely blank page, other than the last page, available in your passport.
  3. Proof that you have paid the IEC program participation fee.

Note: Please arrange your documents in the order indicated above.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you have signed twice on the IEC application form (page 2 of 6 and page 6 of 6). If any of these are unsigned, the application will be returned to you unprocessed.

All documents must be submitted in English or French or, if not in English or French, they must be accompanied by an official English or French translation.

We keep all the documents you send us, so please keep copies for your files.

The High Commission of Canada in New Zealand reserves the right to request additional supporting documents and/or proceed with additional verifications (for example, request original documents).  Incomplete, unsigned and non-compliant application packages will not be processed. The application will be returned to the applicant’s New Zealand mailing address and the applicant will need to resubmit the application.
