Canada - São Tomé and Príncipe Relations
Canada’s first ambassador was appointed to São Tomé-e-Príncipe (STP) in 1979, four years after the country achieved independence in 1975. STP has been interacting with Canada within the Organisation international de la Francophonie, which it joined in 1995.

Canada is currently represented in STP by the Canadian High Commission located in Abuja, Nigeria.

The Permanent Mission of STP to the United Nations in New York also serves as its Embassy to Canada. In addition, STP is represented by an Honorary Consul in Montreal.
Trade and Investments
Canada has limited bilateral trade relations with STP. Two-way merchandise trade reached $107 700 in 2016.
Development and Humanitarian Assistance
In 2015-2016, the Canadian development assistance was $ 1.24 million for STP, all channels included. See Project Browser for additional information on programming in STP.
Canada provides scholarships to STP through the Canadian Francophonie Grants Program.
