Canadian High Commissioner to Pakistan Ross Hynes invites applications for the inaugural Canadian Awards for Pakistani Journalism in the Public Interest for print, radio and television (electronic) media. Eminent Pakistani journalists, with the support of the Canadian High Commission, have designed and will judge the award. High standards of journalism on issues of public interest play a vital role in upholding democracy.
Applications shall be reviewed on the basis of professionalism and impact with regard to how the reporting serves the public interest by advancing public policy discussion and strengthening government accountability to the public.
Nominations and applications shall contain highlights of reporting from 2011 (in either Urdu or English) as follows:
Separate awards shall be given for print, television and radio. Applicants shall note if they are under 30 years of age, for which there will be a distinct category of awards.
