How to submit an application

Update: The VAC in Tokyo, Japan, is open and accepting applications.


Effective April 14, 2014, the Embassy of Canada in the Philippines will accept visa applications submitted either online or through one of the Visa Application Centres (VACs) in the Philippines, Japan or Korea.  Visit the CIC website for more information on VACs.

* By submitting an application through a VAC, you will be able to take advantage of the extended hours of service, online tracking of your application and the assurance that your application is complete and all the proper documentation is included. We are confident that this will lead to more efficient processing of your application.


As of September 4, 2013, you may need to give your biometrics (fingerprints and photograph) when submitting an application for a visitor visa. This new requirement affects citizens from 29 countries and one territory.

Ifyou need to give your biometrics, please DO NOT mail in your application. Instead, you must apply online or in person at one of the VACs in the Philippines, Japan or Korea.

Immigration Applications

Family class

All applications to sponsor a family class member must be submitted to the Case Processing Centre in Canada. For more information on how to submit your application and the forms of payment, refer to Sponsoring Your Family.

Economic Class

All applicants in the economic classes must submit their initial application to the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) in Canada. For more information on how to submit your application, please refer to the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website.

Updating My Application with Additional Documents or Information

Effective April 14, 2014, additional documents in support of existing applications cannot be submitted in person. Applications must be complete at time of submission. If additional documents are required, our office will contact you with instructions on how to submit additional documents or information.
