Thematic Series

The Permanent Mission of Canada, in association with New York University (NYU)’s Center on International Cooperation has hosted thematic series entitled “Building More Effective UN Peace Operations” since 2009. This series of interactive panel discussions provides an opportunity for all UN member states to hear from experts and to informally share views on a range of issues related to UN Peace Operations.

The June 13th, 2012, event, “Technological Innovations and Peace Operations”, featured Walter Dorn, Professor at the Royal Military College of Canada, and Micah Zenko, Fellow for Conflict Prevention at the Council on Foreign Relations.

After Ambassador Guillermo E. Rishchynski, Permanent Representative of Canada to the United Nations, provided opening remarks, the panellists provided their perspectives on the use of new modern technological innovations to support peacekeeping capacities and mandates.
