Visas and Immigration
On May 1, 2017, Romanian and Bulgarian citizens would be able to fly to or transit through Canada with an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), instead of a visitor visa if they:
- have held a Canadian visitor visa in the past 10 years; or
- currently have a valid United States nonimmigrant visa.
The Government of Canada has also announced that it intends to lift the visa requirements for Romanian and Bulgarian citizens starting December 1, 2017.
Until April 30, 2017, all citizens from Bulgaria and Romania still need a visitor visa to travel to Canada. Find out how to apply for a visa.
As of July 19th 2017, all fee payments for visa and immigration services in Romania and Bulgaria must be paid online by credit card. Please refer to the ‘Pay your fees’ page below.
