Canada-Armenia Relations

Diplomatic relations between Canada and the Republic of Armenia were formally established in 1992.  Canada is represented in the Republic of Armenia through the Embassy of Canada in Moscow and by an Honorary Consulate in Yerevan.  The Republic of Armenia is represented in Canada through its Embassy in Ottawa.

Bilateral relations between Canada and Armenia benefit from close people-to-people ties, high-level exchanges and collaboration in international organisations such as La Francophonie.  The Armenian genocide was recognised by the Government of Canada in 2006 following resolutions in Canada’s parliament in 2004 and 2002.  Canada-Armenia bilateral trade arrangements include an agreement on Trade and Commerce (1999), a Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (1999) and a Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (2005).  Canada and Armenia are working to foster expanded commercial and economic ties, with a number of Canadian companies already active in Armenia notably in the natural resources and high-technology sectors.
