Our Role and Services

Our Role:

The role of the Canadian Consulate in San Diego is to advocate Canadian commercial, economic, and political interests in the San Diego community. We are also dedicated to developing innovative strategies for the identification and implementation of business opportunities in high technology sectors in the San Diego area.

Our trade commissioners specialize in the following sectors:

  • Life sciences
  • Information communication technology (ICT)
  • Aerospace and defence
  • Cleantech

From a public affairs point of view, we seek to promote understanding on issues like Canada's commitment to the fight against terrorism and the importance of enhancing the close cooperation between Canada and the United States as part of the NAFTA.

Our services:

The Canadian Consulate in San Diego is a satellite of the Consulate General of Canada in Los Angeles, and focuses on trade and investment for technology-based industries, as well as public affairs. It is part of the network of Canadian government representation in the United States, which includes the Embassy in Washington, D.C., eleven Consulates General and seven Consulate Trade Offices.

Please note that the Canadian Consulate in San Diego does not provide consular services, nor does it process passports or handle visa and immigration enquiries.
