Yemen is represented in Canada by an Embassy in Ottawa.
In terms of our bilateral relationship, Canada supports Yemen in its democratic and economic development and in the promotion of human rights. Our support is represented by the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), which supports local civil society organizations in Yemen. Canada contributes to humanitarian assistance to Yemen through various multilateral organizations such as the World Food Programme, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Committee of the Red Cross/Red Crescent. We also support Canadian non-governmental organizations working with the victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters as well as refugees in the region.
Commercial interests in Yemen are represented by Canadian private sector participation in the oil and gas sectors. Canadian companies are an important player in these sectors and are responsible for an important share of Yemeni oil production. Canadian oil companies also contribute to Yemeni society by their socially responsible and collaborative approach, including important investments in the communities where they operate.
