Location

The Immigration Section of the Consulate General of Canadian is located on the 6th floor of the Century Squre Building at the corner of 4th Avenue and Pike Street in downtown Seattle.

Security

All persons entering the Immigration section must enter through the metal detector and submit to a wand check and visual check of handbags, backpacks, etc.

The Consulate General of Canada reserves the right to prohibit entry of anyone who fails to comply with the screening process.


How to apply

The Consulate accepts applications by mail or in person.  To apply in person applicants must appear at the Consulate during our walk in hours listed below.  Applicants who wish to mail their application are advised to review the Document Return Procedure below.

Hours of Operation

General Walk-in Enquiries: Monday-Friday, 1:00 p.m.- 2:30 p.m.

Temporary Resident (visitor) Visas: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

Study and Work Permits: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

Travel Documents (permanent resident abroad): Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. 

Applications for travel documents must be submitted in person, Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Please note that a travel document is required if you are returning to Canada via commercial carrier (airplane, boat, train, or bus).

Document Return Procedure

  • For Addresses in the U.S.:

Standard Procedure: The Consulate will return passports/documents to addresses in the United States via U.S. Postal Service First Class Mail. Please enclose with your application a pre-paid, self-addressed return envelope with the correct postage affixed. We will not use registered mail, certified mail or return postage coupons.

U.S. Express Mail: If First Class Mail is not acceptable, please enclose with your application a pre-paid, self-addressed U.S. Postal Service Express or Priority Mail envelope with the correct postage affixed. Enter a daytime telephone number on the mailing label above the recipient address.

Please note that we will not return passports/documents to U.S. addresses using ANY commercial courier service (UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc).

  • For Addresses in CANADA:

Standard Procedure: The Consulate will return passports/documents to addresses in Canada via U.S. Postal Service First Class Mail. Please enclose with your application a self-addressed return envelope.

FEDEX Courier: If First Class Mail is not acceptable, please enclose with your application a completed air waybill and a return courier envelope for FedEx. You must fill in your name and address as both the sender and the recipient on the waybill. The Consulate's address must not appear on the waybill. You must enter your valid FedEx account number in the appropriate billing information box. Payments by cheque or credit card are not accepted.

The Consulate will not be responsible for filling out courier labels or verifying shipping charges; these are the sole responsibility of the applicant.

Please note that we will not return passports/documents to Canadian addresses using any commercial courier service other than FedEx.

**The Consulate is not responsible for any passports lost in the mail**
