As of December 11, 2013, citizens of Bangladesh, between the ages of 14 and 79, must give their biometrics (fingerprints and photographs) when submitting an application for a visitor visa, study permit or work permit. This new requirement affects citizens from 29 countries and one territory.
You can give your biometrics at the VAC in Bangladesh.
Applications submitted directly to the visa office (drop box, mail, or courier) will take longer to process. By submitting an application through a VAC, you will be able to take advantage of the extended hours of service, online tracking of your application and the assurance that your application is complete and all the proper documentation is included. We are confident that this will lead to more efficient processing of your application.
|Application type||Online*||Through the nearest VAC: Bangladesh ; Malaysia; Singapore||To the visa office*|
(by drop box Wed 8:30– 9:30 am ONLY or by mail/courier)

|Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD)||No||Yes||Yes|
If you need to give your biometrics, please DO NOT mail in your application. Instead, you must apply online or in person at the nearest VAC.
* Whether you apply online or in person at the visa office, if you need to give your biometrics you will have to go in person to a VAC to have your biometrics taken.
To avoid delays make sure you:
Unless you apply online, you must submit your original passport with your application, and it will be returned to you once a decision has been made. If you choose NOT to include your original passport with your application, it will delay processing.
IMPORTANT: When you submit your original passport it cannot be returned to you early. Be sure to consult the processing times and plan accordingly.
If you require your passport for travel while your application is being processed you are encouraged to apply online. If you apply online, you must provide a clear, legible copy of your valid passport or travel document. Include a copy of the page that shows your birth date, country of origin, etc. and any pages with stamps, visas or markings. If your application is accepted we will request your passport. You can submit your passport by mail or courier or through the nearest VAC (Bangladesh, Malaysia or Singapore).
You have three options for the return of your passport(s):
Please note the visa office does not accept any applications submitted in person or in person enquiries. If you have been requested to submit additional documentation, please do so via email, mail, courier, or the VAC (if your application was originally submitted through the VAC). Enquiries can be sent by email.
Please note: Processing times are longer for applications submitted by drop box, mail, or courier. For efficient processing of your application, you are encouraged to apply online or through the nearest VAC.
