How to Submit an Application to this Visa Office

You may submit applications in any category by mail or by courier service, which avoids the inconvenience of waiting in line outside the High Commission.

How to submit different types of applications:

Our office details:

Temporary resident (visitor, student, temporary worker)

We strongly encourage clients to apply for Temporary Resident Visas through their local travel agent as they have up-to-date information on our requirements and are able to offer assistance in submitting applications to us in a timely manner.

If, however, you wish to submit your application in person at our office in Pretoria, South Africa, you may do so between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., Monday to Friday. Applications may also be submitted at these times through a courier service. Please refer to our list of holidays for dates that the High Commission is closed.

The High Commission offices in Johannesburg, South Africa, do NOT provide any visa services. Please do not contact them for forms or information.

Family class applications

 All applications for sponsored family class members must be submitted to the Case Processing Centre (CPC) in Canada.

Economic Class

All applicants in these classes must submit their initial application to the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) in Canada. For more information on how to submit your application, please refer to the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website. 

Due to a temporary moratorium on accepting new applications in the federal entrepreneur program, the visa office will not accept any entrepreneur applications that arrive at the visa office on or after July 1, 2011. These applications will be returned to the applicant. 

All applicants in these classes must submit complete applications to this visa section
by mail, or
by courier service.

Hours of Operation

In-person: Monday-Friday. All in-person applications must be submitted to the Visa Section between 8:00 a.m.–10:00 a.m. ONLY. All collections continue to be from 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., excluding holiday closures (may differ from local holidays).

Directions

By Road:      
Directions to the Canadian High Commission in Pretoria, South Africa, from Johannesburg.

Take the N1 Pietersburg highway.

Pass the turn-off for C.S.I.R/Lynnwood Road and take the next turn-off marked Pretoria/Witbank N4.

Keep left and stay on Pretoria N4.

Enter the city of Pretoria keeping in the second left-hand lane.

You are now in Pretorius Street. You will cross over Richard Street, Gordon Road,  Duncan Street and Grosvenor Street.  Turn left at the next corner at Hilda Street.

At the second set of traffic lights turn left into Arcadia Street. The High Commission is diagonally to your left, on the corner of Hilda and Arcadia Streets. The building is double-storey with blue pillars, surrounded by a white brick wall.

Parking is available outside the building in Arcadia Street.
