Intended number of visits to Canada - Single or Multiple entries (Temporary Resident Visa)

  1. A single entry visa allows you to enter Canada once. With it you can also travel between Canada and the mainland of the United States on a single trip, as long as you re-enter Canada within the validity of your visa. You will not need a multiple entry visa.
  2. If you plan to travel to Canada on a regular basis, you may wish to apply for a multiple entry visa. This allows you to travel to Canada numerous times within the validity of the visa.

Number of persons travelling with you - family or group

  1. Family rate: a family includes the spouse (married or common law) and the dependent children under the age of 22 or, if they are over the age 22, children who are attending school full-time and are financially dependent on their parents. The family rate should be applied if it is cheaper than paying per person.

    Example:
    • A family of six or more applying for a single entry visa
    • A family of three or more applying for a multiple entry visa
  2. Group rate: a group consisting of three or more performing artists including their staff, applying at the same time and place, are required to pay the group rate of CAD$450.00 for the work permits. Performing artists who also need a temporary resident visa are still required to pay the appropriate individual fee for it.

Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF)

Applicants for permanent residence can pay the Right of Permanent Residence Fee ($490) at the time they submit their application or at a later date when requested. The processing fee is still required when submitting an application.

The following applicants are not required to pay the RPRF:

  • dependent children of a principal applicant or sponsor, a child to be adopted, or an orphaned brother, sister, niece, nephew or grandchild;
  • protected persons, including Convention refugees.

In Transit:

Persons in transit to other countries must apply for a transit visa. There is no processing fee for transit visas if your stop in Canada is less than 48 hours. A travel itinerary must be sumitted along with application forms, passport and all other required documents.
